Canadian Comic Creators

This exhibit features the work of award-winning cartoonist Scott Chantler.

Scott’s WWII novel, Two Generals, based on the 1943 wartime diary and letters home of his grandfather Law Chantler, will be brought to life with items belonging to Law along with uniforms from the regimental collection of the Cambridge Armoury.

In addition, the exhibition will touch upon the golden-age of Canadian comic creators with a rare collection of early Canadian comic books.

The public is invited to meet Scott in person at the museum on Friday, March 15 from 2- 4 p.m. Scott will be on hand to chat about and autograph his book, Two Generals, which will be available for purchase.

This Fundraiser is being held to raise Funds to send 4 Cambridge Youth and 3 Leaders from 11^th/12^th Cambridge Scout Group, to Cambridge UK as part of an exchange program with the Scout group there. Any additional funds will used to send youth from this group to the Haliburton Scout Reserve in Northern Ontario this summer. Scouting has a long history in our community and continues to help those in need and provide youth with skills and opportunities.

The Laurelwood Fun Fair will return July 5 and 6. There will be a midway, pet parade, the REMAX balloon (tethered), vendor village, outdoor food court, demonstrations (i.e. the Y - Zumba), safety village/Waterloo Fire Dept., Kitchener Rangers Street Team, movie under the stars, clowns.

Wrist band tickets purchased in advance are available from May 15th for $25 (good for both days) but will only be available at this reduced rate for a limited time; after which, only individual tickets are available. The wrist band vouchers are available at Scotiabank, and the Dairy Queen at Laurelwood Commons and also the YMCA.

Any proceeds go to the Stork Family YMCA and the Harper Library so that they can build a large outdoor community structure (i.e. gazebo).
