- DON CORNELIUS, the guy who created and hosted "Soul Train" died yesterday of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was 75. Police were called to Don's L.A. home at about 4:00 A.M. It was reportedly one of Don's sons who made the call. They took him to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Sources say he was battling several health issues and the pain had become pretty intense. "Soul Train" debuted in Chicago in 1970, and began syndicating the following year. Don hosted the show himself until 1993, when guest hosts took over.

- Paul McCartney might perform at the summer Olympics in London this year. But don't expect Ringo Starr to show up. He recently told a reporter that he won't be there because he's already booked in the States. But he's definitely open to playing with Paul again sometime, just not as part of a "Beatles reunion."
- DANIEL RADCLIFFE (AKA Harry Potter) says he prefers women who don't shave down there. And when describing his own pubic area, he says, quote, "Not a huge amount of maintenance going on. I mean, there's a little bit, obviously, for courtesy." But when it comes to women, he says, quote, "This is way too much information, but I don't like girls with nothing down there either. - Madonna is gearing up for her Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday, and when Elton John was asked what advice he'd give her... He said, she should make sure she does a good job lip-syncing. Meanwhile, he said he would never do a Super Bowl halftime show because the only decent performances he's ever seen were by the Rolling Stones in 2006 and Prince in 2007.

- DREW CAREY and his fiancée Nicole Jaracz have broken up. They'd been engaged since 2007. His rep says, quote, "He and Nicole still have a great deal of love and affection for one another. He will still be very involved with their son's life." Drew and Nicole don't have a kid together. He's referring to Nicole's son Connor from a previous relationship. He's 6 years old, and he and Drew are reportedly very close. It's not clear WHEN Drew and Nicole officially split, but he's already shacking up with somebody new. Her name is Kelley Whilden and she's a 31-year-old aspiring actress. They were photographed together at a soccer game in Arizona on Saturday.

- Happy Birthday Eddie Van Halen who turns 57 today. Meanwhile, a 90-second preview of another track off VAN HALEN'S upcoming album hit the Internet yesterday. This one is called "Blood and Fire" and like "Tattoo", Van Halen fans have already recognized it as something that came out of an old track. But this time, we aren't talking about an outtake. Instead, "Blood and Fire" sounds like an instrumental track called "Ripley" that EDDIE VAN HALEN wrote when he did the score for a 1984 CHRIS PENN movie called "The Wild Life". Both are on YouTube if you want to compare.
