Go Leafs Go? / D12 is now a Laker / Game 1 Goes to Team Canada / Lockout by September 15th?

I’m seeing flashes of how the Leafs ended their season. The Buds went on a colossal collapse falling out of the playoffs resulting in fans chanting “Go Jays Go” at games. Well don’t look now but the Jays have lost 15 of their last 19, and maybe, just maybe, we’ll start hearing the “Go Leafs Go” chants inside the Rogers Centre. The Jays were swept by the Rays, a team they just can’t beat, yesterday it was 7-1 in the finale. I know injuries should never be an excuse, but this team has been absolutely decimated, so I’m willing to give them the pass. I can’t imagine many teams would succeed with half their starting roster on the shelf. Speaking of that, Brett Lawrie is officially on the DL retroactive to August 4th. Play ball!
Steve Spott wasn’t overly thrilled with the performance but Game 1 still went to Canada in the Canada/Russia Challenge. It was a 3-2 squeaker with goals from Sean Monahan, Scott Harrington and Dougie Hamilton. Nail Yakupov picked up one of the Russian goals.
The CHL might be our best source for hockey this winter. NHL Commish and president of the “Little Man Club” said if a new NHL CBA isn’t worked out by Saturday, September 15th, he will lock out the players. Hopefully not, my Fantasy Draft is set for the 28th.
Jay Bo maybe on the move sooner than we thought. The Red Wings are hot and heavy for his services after losing Nik Lidstrom and Brad Stuart. Other teams knocking on the door…St. Louis, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Phoenix.
The LA Lakers are about to get that much stronger. Already with Kobe Bryant, they’ve signed Canadian Steve Nash, and now they have a deal in place to land Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic in a four-team, eight-player trade. Philadelphia and Denver are the other dance partners. The Nuggets would get Andre Iguodala. The 76ers acquire Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson while the Magic add Al Harrington, Arron Affalo, Moe Harkless , Nikola Vuevic and lottery protected first-round picks from Philly, LA and Denver.

Usain Bolt is a machine, plain and simple. The guy can run.
Our Canadian Women on the pitch have made us all proud, especially me. Talk about a battle. I’ve never been a huge fan, which has been well documented here, but they are starting to make me a believer. We had the game on here at work and when Diana Matheson scored that goal, this place erupted!
Canada sits in 12th place in the medal count, now with 17. 1 Gold, 5 Silver, 11 Bronze.
