Happy Monday!
After 29 games, the drought is over! And all it took was Jays pitching. Albert Pujols went deep Sunday off Drew Hutchinson for his 1st home run in an Angel’s uniform. Pujols also picked up his 1st error as well on a botched double play attempt.
Orioles first baseman Chris Davis had the best worst game of his career. He struck out 5 times, grounded into a double play and went 0 for 8 at the plate. But he won’t remember that. What he will remember is picking up the win. Davis went two scoreless innings for the 9-6 victory. The difference was Adam Jones who hit a 3 run shot off Boston OF, yep happened on both sides, Darnell MacDonald. Funny since I saw MacDonald pitch in an A’s blowout at Fenway last year.
The Kings have one goal in mind, being crowned Stanley Cup champions. They are now 9-1 in the post season after picking up their first sweep in franchise history, knocking off the Blues in 4. L.A. is also the first team in NHL history to knock off the number 1 and 2 seeds, and if the Coyotes defeat the Preds, L.A. would get a chance at seed number 3 in their first trip back to the Conference Finals since ’93, when they defeated the Leafs with Fraser’s and Gretzky’s help.
Marty Brodeur celebrated his 40th birthday in fine fashion by helping the Devils come back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Flyers and take a commanding 3 games to 1 lead, a lead the Devils have never lost, ever. Claude Giroux was also called for a head shot on Dainius Zubrus. Disciplinary hearing scheduled for today. Huge loss for Flyers if he misses a game.
Didn’t seem to affect him too much as Zubrus also picked up the empty net goal on some great extra effort.
Check out this fan at the Lakers/Nuggets game. Apparently she’s not a regular crazy, but s super-sized crazy as she has reportedly stalked Nuggets players in the past.
The New York Knicks avoided the sweep at the hands of the Heat with their 1st playoff victory since 2001. But it came with a price as Baron Davis dislocated his knee cap.
And Team Canada bounced back with a 7-2 win over France this morning at the World Hockey Championships after a 5-4 loss to the States on the weekend. Sharpe had a 5 point game while Nugent-Hopkins and Benn each tickled the twine twice. Canada is currently is 1-1 in tournament play.
That's it from the couch...for now.
