The Greatest "Lighter In The Air" Songs Of All Time

    Posted 9/8/2010 11:00:00 AM

Holy Crap, it's been a long time! Anyway, nice to be back...anyway here we go...

Zippo . . . the lighter company . . . conducted a poll to determine The Greatest Lighter-in-the-Air Songs of All Time.  The top 3 honors went to (click on the links to see the vids):

    3) MEAT LOAF'S "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", which got 9.8%.

     2) LED ZEPPELIN'S "Stairway to Heaven" . . . with 15.7% of the vote .

And according to Zippo - The Greatest "Lighter In The Air" Song Of-All-Time:

The epic QUEEN song "Bohemian Rhapsody", which received one-third, or 33%, of the vote. I had to include a live version here. RIP Freddie.

(--The rest of the list . . . if there IS a rest of the list . . . wasn't released.  The ...

DARRYL'S TAKE ON THE HALAK TRADE

    Posted 6/17/2010 7:00:00 PM
Montreal Canadiens trade playoff goaltending star Jaroslav Halak to St. Louis for Lars Eller and Ian Shultz.
    My thoughts on the trade:

Not a stupid decision. More a "necessary" decision in the current world of salary caps. Montreal is perilously close to the cap. Another team offers Halak a big chunk of $$ and the Canadiens either have to match it or risk losing him for nothing. They are so close to the ceiling that chances are they wouldn't be able to match it. They got a couple of good young kids for him (Eller's a 1st rounder).
The other thing to remember (this is for people who think they should've traded Price) is how many teams are going to want Price after the past couple of seasons and a 2.2 million dollar price tag. So Halak was the guy other teams were going to go after anyway. For those ...

Gulf Oil Spill - WE ALL PAY!

    Posted 6/9/2010 7:00:00 PM
The cartoon at the left says it all. Dolighan is a really great cartoonist (http://dolighan.com

I'm still too angry about this BP deep sea oil gush to really even blog much about it right now.

The greed of some people is mind boggling. And let's face it...we ALL pay for it. We pay at the pump. We pay extra for everything we buy (it takes fuel to transport goods into your local store - example: have you noticed the price of groceries lately?). The fat cat oil people don't care that a box of mac and cheese has gone up almost 40% because they don't eat that kind of peasant food anyway.

When they screw up the environment and people's livelihoods, they say "sorry" and they move on like it's an afterthought.

The kicker is that the ENTIRE oil industry is eerily silent. Fuel prices are ...

WALTER GRETZKY BALL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT RECAP AND A NEW WORLD'S RECORD

    Posted 6/7/2010 10:08:00 AM
A HUGE Thanks to my teammates from TEAM DAVE-FM! You all made it a memorable experience and we came so close.
We finished fourth in our division with a record of 2 and 1 (we totally should've won that first game too). The top 2 teams from each of the 8 divisions moved on, they were ALL 3 and 0 teams (and even some of them didn't advance because of goal differential).

We had a great mix of youth, speed and veteran leadership (that's just to make we old guys feel better)

Special thanks to Reg, Kyle, Tony, and Ted for joining us. Also Sean and the "Montreal Connection", Derek, Dan and Ryan. These fellas made the 7 hour journey from Quebec to join us - thanks for making me look good guys.

Carlos, you sir, are a great teammate, always ready to step up and represent and you do it ...
